Privacy Policy

This site (je9.us) is a personal digital studio operated by John Elia. The same operator runs a network of related sites listed on the je9.us homepage. This policy covers all of them.

Who runs this

John Elia — sole proprietor, based in the United States. Contact: libcxyz@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Visitor logs — IP address, approximate geolocation (city/country derived from IP), pages viewed, referrer, user agent, browser language, time zone, screen size, timestamp. Used to understand traffic and detect abuse.
• Account info — if you register on a sub-site (e.g., ubigasshole.com, menow.us): your email, chosen username, password (stored only as a salted bcrypt hash, never in plain text), and approximate geo at registration time.
• Contact/booking submissions — name, email, message, IP, approximate geo when you submit a contact form (e.g., on theratsasses.com).
• Posted content — messages you post in chat or forum features are stored with your username and timestamp.
• AI assistant interactions — when you use the “Ask Claude” widget on any site in this network, we log your IP address, the site you were on, which AI model responded, token counts, estimated cost, response status, and timestamp. We do not log the text of your messages or Claude’s responses. Geo data is inferred from IP via the same method as visitor logs.
• SMS interactions — if you text our published phone numbers, we receive your message body, your phone number, and Twilio-provided approximate location metadata. Used to respond to your inquiry.

What we don't do

• We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your data to third parties.
• We do not run third-party advertising, tracking pixels, or analytics SDKs.
• We do not send marketing emails or SMS to people who haven't explicitly signed up for them.

How we use what we collect

• Operating the sites (login, content delivery, fraud prevention)
• Responding to contact and booking inquiries
• Detecting and blocking abuse (rate limiting, fail2ban)
• Aggregate analytics for the operator's own dashboards (not shared externally)
• Sending you transactional messages you've initiated or opted into

SMS & phone communications

Some sub-sites publish a phone number (currently +1 (234) 400-6611) for booking and contact. If you text or call this number:

• Frequency: we only reply to your incoming messages, and only when you've initiated contact. We do not send recurring marketing messages.
• Carrier costs: message and data rates may apply, per your carrier.
• Opt-out: reply STOP at any time and we will not message that number again.
• Help: reply HELP for contact info, or email libcxyz@gmail.com.
• Where messages are stored: in the operator's database alongside web contact form submissions. Recordings of voicemails are stored at Twilio plus a transcript is emailed to the operator.

Outbound SMS from +1 (234) 400-6611 is currently used only for system alerts the account owner has configured for themselves (e.g., notifying the operator when a site goes down). It is not used to message third parties without their prior consent.

Who else sees the data

• Service providers we use: Twilio (SMS/voice), Google (mail delivery via Gmail SMTP), Anthropic (AI assistant and API features), ipapi.co and ipwho.is (IP-to-geolocation lookup — your IP is sent to these services to derive city/country; they do not receive any other personal data). Each only sees the data necessary to deliver its service.
• Hosting infrastructure: DigitalOcean operates the server. Standard cloud-provider visibility applies.
• Law enforcement: we will respond to valid legal process, but the operator is a single individual and not a corporation, so the data footprint is small.

How long we keep it

Account and content data is retained indefinitely while your account exists. Visitor logs, analytics, and AI chat logs are automatically purged after 90 days. Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months. Voicemail recordings are retained for 12 months unless deleted earlier.

Your rights

• Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated content
• Opt out of any SMS communication by replying STOP

Security

Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Secrets are stored outside the web root. Traffic is HTTPS-only. The server runs fail2ban against brute-force attacks. Despite our efforts, no online service can guarantee perfect security.

Children

These sites are not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new "Last updated" date.
